A Powerful Tool For Keeping Your New Year’s Resolutions

If you’re like most of us, your New Year’s Resolutions fall by the wayside within a few days after January 1st. Maybe if you’re lucky, you will stick to them for little bit longer. However, by February, most of us are back to our old ways of doing things.

This is never more true than our resolutions to eat healthy and lose weight. Have you ever wondered why that is?

Eating healthy is hard.

Food is comfort. Food is love. Food is celebration. Food is community.

So what do we need to do differently in order to break those associations and get down to a healthy weight once and for all?

Visualize.

Visualization is the most effective free tool that you can use every day to help you reach your goals and be unstoppable.

What exactly is visualization?

It’s more than just imagination. It’s imagination on steroids. Visualization involves focusing so intensely on what you want to achieve that it becomes the only reality possible for you. In this article, I’ll teach you how to do this in five minutes or less so you can do this every day, multiple times a day.

Start by taking three deeps breaths, breathing all the way down into your belly button.

Now, imagine yourself at your ideal weight. But I mean really, really, really focus on that image of yourself at your ideal weight. See yourself in an outfit you would love to wear with confidence. Notice the details of the outfit. The color, the texture, the way it hugs your body. In your mind, turn around and notice how it hugs your backside and the curve of your legs.

Notice the details around you. Notice where you are. Notice who else is there. Notice the scenery around you, the sights, the smells, the sounds in this space where you are at your ideal, and most beautiful weight.

Now, make the scene brighter. Make the colors more vibrant. Make the sounds richer. The people who are with you are admiring you. You look amazing. Younger. Healthier. Energized. Keep turning up the energy in that scene. Higher and higher and higher. Make it even more vibrant, intense and real.

That is you. That is your ideal weight. Notice how good this moment feels. Notice where that good feeling lives inside your body. Is it in your head? In your chest? In your stomach?  Notice where in your body you feel good.

Now, give that feeling a color. Give it a shape. Give it a texture. Does it move or is it still?  Is it heavy or light?  Connect with that feeling on a visceral level. Because you want to feel this good every day.

Every day that you do this short visualization exercise, you will feel this good. The feeling gets stronger and stronger and stronger every time you see yourself at your ideal weight.

You know that every choice in your life either brings you closer to that vision of yourself at your ideal and most beautiful weight, or it takes you further away. You know what those choices are. You know what to do. You are smart, and now you know you want to eat to be at an ideal weight.

Each day when you wake up, connect to that vision of yourself. Before you eat your meals, see yourself at that ideal weight. As you reconnect with that vision, your food choices will become easier than before. You might find yourself drinking more water and eating less.

Every day, you become thinner and thinner, better and better. Every day, in every way.
